WWE NXT Preview (November 8, 2022): Get the Shot

NXT airs tonight (November 8) live from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando.

You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take

We try not to dwell on the same topics and take here in the previews department of Cageside NXT. But after the end of last week’s episode, it seemed to indicate that Carmelo Hayes would continue his feud with Wes Lee – and therefore remain in the North American title scene – while Von Wagner, Apollo Crews and we assume JD McDonagh pursues NXT Champion Bron Breaker, we have to repeat ourselves on something.

GIVE US MELO VS. BREAKER!

Certainly, the fact that we claim it could be a sign of a good reservation. If Shawn Michaels and his team decided it was their Hold and deliver main event of the week of WrestleMania in Los Angeles they should keep reminding us that these guys are playing on the same turf as they did by having Hayes cost Bron & Wes their chance to take the NXT Tag Team Belts from Pretty Deadly. Start sprinkling teasing for a showdown after Dec. 10 Deadline PLE, proper construction can start in the new year.

Breakker didn’t tackle a hoss like Wagner, and his reign was all about overcoming different kinds of challenges. Their match next week (which will be pushed by Bron and Von’s appearance in “The Grayson Waller Effect” tonight) sees him kill a giant. McDonagh may just be a way for Crews to finally earn a title shot. The Irish Ace is one hell of a hand, so we won’t complain to see him struggle (like he will when he takes on Axiom on this week’s show). Apollo will give WWE officials another chance to evaluate Breakker against a veteran with main roster experience to see how he has developed since feuding with Dolph Ziggler earlier this year.

But to hell with logic…it’s a long wait and wrestling fans aren’t known for their patience. Also, should Melo or Bron be in NXT for another six months?

If that’s what they’ve decided, though… it’ll be worth the wait. We ask that, if our reading at the end of last week’s show is correct, The A Champion reminds us why he’s obsessed with Lee after he’s proven himself to be bigger than the midcard belt. It would be nice if we had more than this video of him saying he does what he wants, when he wants.

Maybe we’ll get it when he and his guy Trick Williams return to the barbershop in tonight’s episode.

The rest of the title scene

It didn’t work out the way she envisioned it to. Halloween havocbut Alba Fyre’s plan to eliminate Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne before coming to get Mandy Rose and the NXT Women’s Championship is a sound. She released one of the Toxic Attraction duets last Tuesday at Rose’s party, and she’s going after Jayne tonight. Then next week it’s one-on-one with Mandy.

We don’t need to wait for another dose of NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Kayden Carter and Katana Chance defend against Zoey Stark and Nikkita Lyons. But if Stark can’t control his anger, the outcome probably won’t be that different this time… except this one could lead to a Zoey/Nikkita feud.

Other things to watch out for

• Ava Raine plans to show us how different Schism is with her when Joe Gacy disappears Cameron Grimes tonight.

• Brutus Creed has five minutes to make Damon Kemp pay for what he did at Diamond Mine. He and Julius should, however, be on the lookout for Indus Scher while he gets his pound of flesh. Veer & Shanky skipped The Creeds two weeks ago and cut ties with Valentina Feroz last Tuesday, freeing up their schedule to wreak havoc on the tag scene.

• Speaking of Feroz, Cora Jade redirected her anger over losing to Roxanne Perez at Halloween Havoc on the Brazilian superstar a week ago. This brought out Wendy Choo for backup and to set up Jade’s next program.

• Duke Hudson now flies the Chase U flag, but will that help Andre Chase when he faces that ruthless son of villain, Charlie Dempsey? Or Thea Hail reclaim her win from Kiana James?

• Indi Hartwell has a nice little winning streak going. To what end?

• She’s back and she’s alone…unless that scene with Tony D’Angelo hints at an alliance with his old nemesis The Don.

• T-BAR and SCRYPTS are still coming.

What are you looking for on NXT tonight?
