Sarah Jessica Parker announces the death of her stepfather after “an unexpected and rapid illness”

Sarah Jessica Parker’s stepfather has passed away. Paul Giffin Forste was 76 years old.

“Our family is sad to announce that after an unexpected and rapid illness, Paul Giffin Forste passed away yesterday at the age of 76,” Parker’s family said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

“In his final moments, he was surrounded by the love and gratitude of his beloved wife Barbara of 54 years, and his children, including Sarah Jessica Parker.”

“Paul will be remembered with the spirit of benevolence that was his faith, his special joy for his 13 grandchildren, and his abiding belief in making the world a more charitable, tolerant and beautiful place for all,” the statement concluded. .

The ‘Sex and the City’ star was to be honored at the New York City Ballet’s 10th Annual Fall Fashion Gala; however, a representative for Parker confirmed to Fox News Digital that she did not attend the event at all.

News of Forste’s death came after it was reported that Parker had missed the event due to a “sudden and devastating family situation”.

Parker was joined by her 13-year-old twin daughters, Tabitha and Marion, alongside her husband, Matthew Broderick.

The couple’s twin daughters, who made a rare special appearance on the red carpet, came dressed to impress as Marion wore a sparkly pink and silver dress while Tabitha wore a chic black gown. They both completed their look with sparkly heels.

Broderick, 60, donned a brown suit and tie as he accompanied his family.

Almost 30 years after the original film, Parker is introduced in the “Hocus Pocus” sequel as Sarah Sanderson. Joining the American fantasy comedy film are co-stars Bette Midler and Kathy Najimy as they reprise their roles as the Sanderson Sisters.
