Margot Robbie addresses paparazzi photos of herself looking distressed, two months after a September visit with Cara Delevingne made headlines.
The actress told Vanity Fair in her December/January cover story, published on Monday, that she was “not crying” in the now-viral photos.
“I had something in my eyes,” the 32-year-old ‘Barbie’ star said. “I’m trying to grab my face mask, I’m trying to hold a cup of coffee and I can’t get a hair out of my eye.”
The Oscar nominee noted that when her mother, Sarie Kessler, then called to ask if Robbie and Delevingne, 30, were okay, she replied, “Yes and yes.”
The Lucky Chap Entertainment co-founder added that she was “not at Cara’s house” when the photos were taken. Instead, Robbie was “outside an Airbnb that [she] rented for five days.
Page Six reported the same after obtaining the photos in September, stating that the photos were taken outside of a rental a few hours after Robbie left Delevingne’s house.
The Golden Globe nominee, who was flying into Los Angeles International Airport at the time, nonetheless made headlines for appearing emotional as she held a hand to her face.
The moment was captured a week after Delevingne sparked concerns over bizarre behavior at Van Nuys airport.
The ‘Paper Towns’ star drove to the airport with her socks hanging from a car window, boarding and disembarking Jay-Z’s private jet in 45 minutes.
Delevingne was then filmed talking on the phone, dropping her cellphone multiple times in the process.
Chappelle spent most of his monologue discussing Kanye’s issues…
She’s since gone glamorous for Paris Fashion Week events, Cannes carpets and more.
Delevingne and Robbie have been friends since working together on “Suicide Squad” in 2016.
The pals were on vacation in Argentina last month when a paparazzo accused them of trying to attack him – although Robbie did not comment on the alleged altercation during the interview due to “legal issues in Classes”.
The “I, Tonya” star, however, opened up about false media narratives in general.
“You want to fix it, but you just can’t,” Robbie told the magazine. “You have to, I don’t know, look away.”
She went on to liken the interviews to “tapping through a minefield,” saying, “You’re so tired and you’ve been doing it for hours and hours, and being on your toes the whole time. … You can say it right a thousand times, but if you say it wrong once, you’re screwed.
