Halo Infinite’s “Biggest Feature Update Yet” Is Finally Here

Halo Infinite’s long-awaited winter update – which developer 343 Industries calls the game’s “biggest feature update yet” – is now available on Xbox and PC, introducing campaign network co-op , the official launch of The Forge beta, and more.

343 has provided extensive patch notes on its website, but the major additions start with the aforementioned campaign network co-op, allowing up to four players to experience Halo Infinite’s campaign together. Crossplay between PC and Xbox devices is supported, and progress and unlocks are shared between all players, not just the host.

To accompany the arrival of the cooperative campaign, the developer has added 24 new achievements, many of which will require collaboration to complete.

And in another much-requested feature addition, all campaign missions are now available to replay through the TACMAP, meaning players can now pick up any outstanding achievements or collectibles without having to replay everything.

The next biggie is the long-awaited return of Halo’s much-loved creation tool, The Forge, which is now officially available in beta form and said to be “more powerful than ever” – as we’ve already seen thanks to reviews. previous leaks.

This initial version of The Forge launches with six canvas maps, a new visual scripting engine, object scaling, lighting and audio tools, bot support, significant budget increases , file sharing capabilities, etc. 343 notes that the tools will see updates and support over time, “evolving to add even more content to further inspire and empower creators.”

Elsewhere, Halo Infinite’s winter update adds two new multiplayer maps and a new mode. There’s Argyle – a “tight, interior, symmetrical map” set in the narrow corridors of a UNSC ship – and Detachment, a symmetrical arena map set inside and outside of a formerly abandoned UNSC research facility located on a rocky outcrop. As for the new mode, it’s called Covert One Flag and is described as a unique variant of One Flag CTF in which attackers and defenders switch sides each turn as they battle for control of a single flag. .

To wrap up the big feature additions, there’s a “major” evolution to Halo Infinite’s match XP and progression system, which now rewards XP for completing matches and for match performance – in taking into account wins and losses, and the end of the placement of matches.

You can find more details about today’s big update – which also includes a new Battle Pass, as well as updates to playlists, matchmaking and sandbox – in the release notes of 343.

“The last thing we want to say is thank you for your support over the past year,” the studio concludes. “We know it certainly hasn’t been the smoothest or fastest ride, but with the winter update we have the opportunity to show our thanks for the dedication and community feedback that guides us to evolve the Halo Infinite player experience. He adds that he is currently working on addressing other areas of feedback, with another update expected before the end of this year.
