When head coach Mike McDaniel was asked about the quarterback’s performance this year, he was quick to offer his praise and noted that Tagovailoa is handling success well.

“Do you doubt he’s doing well? Let’s motivate this guy,” joked McDaniel wryly. “You just get a feeling about people when you foresee uncharted territory. You don’t quite know, but you feel like you know.”

McDaniel went on to say that Tagovailoa’s production did not shock him.

“Everything that happens with him is not a surprise to me. It would have been a surprise if it wasn’t, just because the daily work that I witness and the work that his teammates do and how his relationship is with them and all that.

“But it doesn’t surprise me the way he’s handled success, because it’s literally made no distinction from the start of our work, before the first game, training camp and OTAs. And that’s great . That’s what I would have guessed.”
