DOJ: Abduction suspect planned to claim Arkansas woman’s baby as his own

A Pineville, Missouri couple have been charged in federal court for their role in the kidnapping and murder of 33-year-old Ashley Bush and the 31-week-old baby she was carrying. Amber Waterman and her husband Jamie Waterman have been charged in separate criminal complaints. Amber Waterman is charged with one count of kidnapping causing death. According to the federal criminal complaint, Amber Waterman kidnapped Bush between October 31 and November 2 in order to claim her unborn child as her own. She allegedly transported Bush from Maysville, AR, to Pineville, resulting in his death. Jamie Waterman is accused of being an afterthought accessory to a kidnapping that resulted in death. According to an affidavit filed in support of the federal criminal complaints, Amber Waterman adopted the alias “Lucy” online in order to meet Bush. She then lured her to meet to drive her for a job interview — instead, Amber killed Bush. Bush was reported missing on October 31, after her fiancé said he last saw her in a van with “Lucy”. On November 1, investigators were notified by the Watermans that Amber had suffered a miscarriage. Detectives then noticed bloodstains inside a truck that matched the description given by Bush’s fiancé. Amber Waterman reportedly drove her husband to the body of Bush on November 2, who was lying face down next to a boat near their home in Pineville. The couple then moved the body to the back of the residence and allegedly burned the body before walking a short distance to hide it. Jamie Waterman led officers and detectives to where the body was taken, where a charred human body was discovered. An FBI Evidence Response Team said they located a charred human hand and bone fragments in a burn pile behind the residence.
