DETROIT – The Cleveland Cavaliers will be without their two starting goalies Friday night against the Detroit Pistons.
Sources tell cleveland.com that Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell, listed as questionable on the night, will not play due to injuries sustained in Wednesday’s hard-fought win over the Boston Celtics. Garland has a sprained left knee while Mitchell sprained his left ankle. These are not believed to be serious injuries.
With the All-Star backcourt unavailable, the Cavs will move Caris LeVert to point guard and reinsert Isaac Okoro and Dean Wade into the starting lineup, sources say. Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen will complete Friday’s starting lineup.

Although Garland and Mitchell were able to finish Wednesday’s game, they experienced discomfort in the hours that followed, requiring treatment Thursday and Friday. The two participated in Friday morning shootout games at Little Caesars Arena. Garland left the building and boarded the team bus with an ice pack around his injured left knee.
While Garland and Mitchell are both out, veteran point guard Raul Neto is available, sources say, and should be given playing time. Neto sprained his ankle against the New York Knicks on Sunday and won’t is not dressed on Wednesday.
Friday’s game against Detroit is the first of a five-game road trip that will continue in Los Angeles over the weekend.
